Microsoft Teams
Connect Microsoft Teams to Ansehn to bring your AI visibility insights straight into the channels where your team already works. Once connected, Ansehn can:
Post AI Visibility Reports to Teams automatically — every time a new report is generated, a summary and a link are delivered to a channel you choose.
Send messages to Teams from the Ansehn Copilot — ask the Copilot to share a finding, metric, or summary with your team, review it, and post it to Teams.
This guide walks you through connecting Teams, choosing where messages go, and managing the integration.
Before you start
You need to be an owner or admin of your Ansehn organization to connect or disconnect Teams. (Team members can still trigger Copilot messages once the connection exists, subject to their permissions.)
You connect with a normal Microsoft 365 account — no Microsoft admin approval is required. Ansehn asks only for the minimum permissions it needs (see Privacy & security), all of which a regular user can approve during sign-in.
The Teams connection is configured per project, so you can send different projects' reports to different teams or channels.
Important — Ansehn posts on behalf of the account that connected it. Ansehn can only see and post to a channel that the connecting account is a member of:
Standard channels are visible to everyone in the team, so any member of the team can post to them.
Private channels are only visible to their members — the connecting account must be added to the private channel before Ansehn can post there.
If the connecting account isn't a member of the team/channel, that channel won't appear in the dropdown and messages to it will fail.
A note on who messages appear "from"
Because Ansehn posts on behalf of the account that connected Teams, messages appear under that person's name in the channel (this is how Microsoft Teams works for this type of integration — unlike Slack, where posts show as the app).
Tip — post as "Ansehn" instead of a person: If you'd prefer notifications to appear from a neutral, branded sender rather than an individual, create a dedicated Microsoft 365 account (for example, named "Ansehn Notifications" with an Ansehn profile photo), and connect Teams while signed in as that account. Every message will then appear from "Ansehn Notifications." This also keeps delivery working even if the original person later leaves your organization.
Connect Microsoft Teams
Open the project you want to connect.
Go to Settings → Integrations.
Find the Microsoft Teams card and click Connect.
A Microsoft window opens asking you to sign in and allow Ansehn access. Review the requested permissions and click Accept.
You'll be returned to Ansehn and the Microsoft Teams card will show a green Connected status.
Tip: If the Connect button is greyed out or you see a message that integrations aren't available, the feature hasn't been enabled for your environment yet — contact Ansehn support.
Choose a default channel for reports
After connecting, pick the channel where automatic report notifications should be posted. Teams organizes channels inside teams, so you choose in two steps:
On the connected Microsoft Teams card, open the Team dropdown and select the team that contains your channel.
Open the Default channel for report notifications dropdown and select a channel from that team.
Click Save.
Important — you must be a member of the channel: Ansehn can only post to channels the connected account can access. For private channels, make sure the connected account has been added to the channel first; standard channels are available to all members of the team.
If some teams or channels don't appear, the dropdown may be showing a partial list — try reconnecting, or make sure the connected account is a member of the team you expect.
Automatic report notifications
Once a default channel is set, Ansehn posts a message to that channel whenever a new AI Visibility Report is generated for the project. Each message includes:
A short summary of the report.
A direct link to open the full report in Ansehn.
You don't need to do anything to receive these — they arrive automatically. If a report is generated while Teams is briefly unavailable, Ansehn retries delivery, so you won't miss a report.
Send messages from the Ansehn Copilot
You can also use Teams on demand through the Ansehn Copilot:
Open the Copilot and ask it to share something with your team, for example: "Send this week's visibility summary to our Marketing channel in Teams."
The Copilot prepares a message and shows you a preview, including the destination team and channel.
Review the content and channel, then confirm to send.
Ansehn posts the message to Teams and confirms it was delivered.
Nothing is ever sent to Teams without your explicit confirmation — the Copilot always proposes first and only posts after you approve.
Manage the integration
On the Settings → Integrations page you can:
Change the default team or channel — pick a different team/channel and click Save.
Disconnect Microsoft Teams — click Disconnect on the Teams card. Ansehn will stop posting to Teams immediately and remove its stored access.
Reconnect — click Connect again at any time to restore the integration (for example, after changing the connected account or switching tenants).
Privacy & security
Ansehn connects to Teams using Microsoft's official, secure OAuth flow. Your Microsoft credentials are never shared with or stored by Ansehn — only a securely managed access token is used on your behalf, and it's refreshed automatically.
Ansehn requests the minimum permissions needed, all of which a regular user can approve (no tenant admin consent required):
read the names and descriptions of your teams and channels (to show you a channel picker),
send channel messages (to post reports and Copilot messages),
keep you signed in (refresh token), and
read your basic profile (to identify the connected account).
Ansehn does not read your team's Teams conversations or message history.
You can revoke access at any time from Ansehn (Disconnect) or from your Microsoft account's app permissions.
Troubleshooting
The "Connect" button is disabled. The integration isn't enabled for your environment. Contact Ansehn support.
"Couldn't load Teams channels" / no channels appear after connecting. This usually means the connected account isn't a member of any team with channels, or the connection didn't fully complete. Make sure the account belongs to at least one team, then Disconnect and Connect again. If it persists, contact support.
A channel I expect isn't in the dropdown. Ansehn only lists channels the connected account can access. For a private channel, add the connected account to that channel in Teams first, then reopen the dropdown.
A report notification or Copilot message didn't arrive. Check that a default team and channel are set and saved, and that the connected account still has access to that channel. Ansehn automatically retries delivery, so late messages may still appear shortly after.
Messages appear from a person instead of "Ansehn." This is expected — Ansehn posts on behalf of the connected account. To use a branded sender, connect with a dedicated account named "Ansehn Notifications" (see the note above).
Frequently asked questions
Do I need our Microsoft/IT administrator to approve this? No. Ansehn requests only permissions a regular user can approve, so any user can connect Teams themselves.
Why do messages show up under my name and not "Ansehn"? Microsoft Teams posts this type of message on behalf of the account that connected. Use a dedicated "Ansehn Notifications" account if you'd like a branded sender.
Can I send different projects to different teams or channels? Yes. Teams is connected per project, so each project has its own connection and default channel.
Will Ansehn read our Teams messages? No. Ansehn only posts messages you or the Copilot approve; it does not read your team's conversations or history.
Who can connect or disconnect Teams? Organization owners and admins. Sending messages through the Copilot depends on your role's permissions within the project.
What happens if I disconnect? Ansehn immediately stops posting to Teams and removes its stored access. You can reconnect at any time.
